About the studio

A small studio for slow, careful reading.

Slowread is a small, accessibility-first wellbeing studio publishing evidence-based guidance on self awareness, mindfulness, and disability support. Clear writing, calm pages, no spectacle.

Why we exist

Good guidance should read effortlessly.

We believe good wellbeing guidance should read effortlessly and respect your attention. Everything we publish is researched properly, written plainly, and built to stay legible on any device.

We started Slowread in 2018 because the clearest wellbeing guidance was almost always buried under the loudest pages. So we built the opposite: cream paper, generous spacing, one warm accent, and writing that puts the answer first.

Nothing here is gated, padded, or designed to chase a click. If a piece does not genuinely help you, we do not publish it.

What we hold to

Four things, every time.

01

Evidence first

We start from primary sources and current research, not recycled summaries.

02

Plain language

The answer goes up front. You should never need a second read to follow us.

03

Accessible by default

AA+ contrast, full keyboard order, and pages that read without scripts.

04

Reader-first

If a piece does not genuinely help you, we do not publish it.

The team

Small on purpose.

Three people who research, write, and check every page before it goes live.

Maren Okafor

Founding editor

Maren started Slowread after a decade writing health explainers, frustrated that the clearest guidance was buried under the loudest pages. She keeps the studio honest about evidence.

Theo Vance

Mindfulness practitioner

Theo trains the short, repeatable practices we recommend and pressure-tests every technique we publish so it holds up in a real, busy day rather than only in theory.

Priya Raman

Accessibility lead

Priya reviews every page against WCAG AA and beyond, from focus order to contrast, so the reading experience works with a keyboard, a screen reader, or a slow connection.

Good to know

Common questions.

What does Slowread cover?

We publish grounded, evidence-based guidance on self awareness, mindfulness practices, and disability support. Everything is written to be clear and genuinely useful.

How often do you publish?

Regularly. We add and update articles as the research and the rules develop, so the coverage stays current.

Is the reading really accessible?

Yes. We hold every page to WCAG AA and beyond: high contrast text, visible focus rings, full keyboard order, and content that reads fully even without scripts or motion.

Can I suggest a topic or a correction?

Please do. Email hello@edvideo.info and a real person on the team will read and reply.

A calmer way to read about wellbeing.

Tell us what you are working through. We will point you to the right guidance, or write it if it does not exist yet.
